The Spark

Over the last couple of weeks, we have designed, iterated, prototyped many different versions of the dub browser to align the team around key design decisions. However, with so many explorations and iterations spread out in different documents, we needed to take a step back and reorganize our progress to serve as visual reference, include important context, and documented design decisions from the exploration. Building on Anupam’s proposal for restructuring our Figma, I began orienting files around experiments, dates, and then topics rather than simply a name. While this makes files easier to find, it more importantly adds a level of version management to track past progress.

Organization

I began by restructuring our Figma with the goal of having 1 Figma file for all of the browser designs. In this main Figma, we have different page groups for different experiments/experiment phases.

Our Notion also felt underutilized for design. So I documented all of our design artifacts from Figmas, videos, research, and writeups to live in the Notion.

Notion

This was a much needed refactoring. We’ll be testing these organizational improvements over the next few weeks and make tweaks accordingly. Our ultimate goal is to have our artifacts organized to make informed design decisions on the product.

Discovery Scholars Grant

We’re also finish up our application for the Discovery Scholars Grant at USC. We wrote a 3 pager telling our story and highlighting individual contributions on the product. It’s been a great exercise in storytelling and reflection for all of us.
