The Spark:

As we started to fine-tune the onboarding flow last week, I realized that parts of the wallet experience hadn’t been fully fleshed out. These gaps in experiences made the onboarding story incomplete. Like in screenplay writing, where people say you should know your ending, we needed to know our end, our ideal wallet experience. For this, I hopped back into Figma to design explorations to answer our unknowns.

Explorations:

My design exploration process consists of blending functionality (what it does/solves) and narrative (why it’s there to begin with). While bouncing between functionality and narrative, I generated the following explorations:

Design Decisions:

These explorations helped us as a team align on design decisions. Some include:

Next Steps

Synthesis: As I push on design explorations, the team and I have a better language to describe what we like, don’t like, and are curious about exploring. Future exploration will synthesize learnings from this exploration to create a more polished, cohesive feel.

Wallet vs. Profile vs. Space: With the new dupdates around WalletManager that Cam and Anupam have pushed this week, we have a lot of unknowns about how people will choose to use their Wallets, Profiles, and Spaces with tabs. Will people want one wallet or multiple wallets per tab? What takes precedence? We will define appropriate mental models for these concepts and answer these questions through more exploration/early user testing.
